Budgi Werri Prunes

Origin: NSW

Budgi Werri Prunes are grown by Doug and Cheryl Heley in South West New South Wales.

Generally speaking, a prune is the dried fruit from the plum tree. The most well known variety of prune plum is the Prune d'Agen named after a town in the southwest of France. Although the town Agen is actually on the edge of the plum-growing region, it is more for the fact that the Canal du Midi passes through this town and was the main port for dispatching the prunes which helped keep the name Prune d'Agen so prominent.

Something you will notice when you try these prunes is a wonderful taste of bitter almond. The bitter almond comes from the stone's centre and gives such a degree of sophistication to the fruit.
